After remaining behind bars for nearly nine months, the former CWG Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi was on Thursday granted bail by Delhi High Court in a 2010 Games-related cases of graft.

While granting them bail, Justice Mukta Gupta direct them to give before the court trial of a bail bond of Rs 5 lakh each and two sureties of like amount.
Justice Gupta said, "There is no allegation that the petitioners are likely to flee from justice and not available for testing."
Court direct them not to leave the country without prior consent of the trial court.
Kalmadi was arrested by the CBI on April 25, 2011 while Verma was arrested on February 23, 2011 at the scam Timing, Scoring and Results systems.
While allowing their plea for bail cited the Supreme Court judgments on 2G spectrum case where it was held that "bail rule and jail is the exception," Justice Gupta said, "There is no commitment of money trail petitioners.
There is also no evidence that petitioner was warned by interfering with witnesses or evidence during the investigation or trial. "
Kalmadi has moved the High Court in January, seeking bail citing Supreme Court judgments in 2G spectrum case and said it was held that "bail rules and prison exception".
Kalmadi said only chargesheet was filed against him and had a remote possibility of initiation of trials in the near future.
The CBI, however, against the bail pleas of Kalmadi and Verma and determined the trial court on January 4 order submitting that it was decided that the case was heard on a daily basis soon after scrutiny of documents.
It also said there was nothing new to the "bail-are-rules-and-prison-an-exception" top sentence of the court while giving bail in 2G case.
Kalmadi, Verma and nine others are accused of alleged awarding of the contract to a Swiss firm to install a timing-Scoring-Result (TSR) system for the Games to a very high rate, causing a loss of over Rs 90 crore state exchequer.
The CBI in its chargesheet file in May 2011 Kalmadi described as the main accused in the case.
Besides Kalmadi and Verma, others who are accused in the scam OC TSR include former Secretary General Lalit Bhanot, OC Director General (Procurement) Surjit Lal, joint Director General (Sports) ASV Prasad, Treasurer M Jayachandran, AK Reddy Managing Director Hyderabad based AKR Constructions and promoters AK Madan and PD Arya of a Faridabad-based firm Gem International.
Two companies AKR Constructions and Swiss Timing was also accused in the case.
The Special CBI court on May 23, 2011 grant permission for their prosecution under various provisions of the IPC dealing with criminal conspiracy, forging documents and using fake documents the real and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The contract was awarded to Swiss Illegal timing which further sub-contracted this gem International. International Gem then sub-let the work of TSR in AKR Constructions.
